The firm is headed by our Managing Director;

Chris Clark who qualified as a Solicitor in 1979 and obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2006 enabling him to conduct cases in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal as a Solicitor Advocate.  Chris is well-known by the people of Staffordshire and beyond for his expertise in Criminal Defence.

Our Door Tenant Barristers Catherine O’Reilly and Frederick Powell were both called to the bar in 1998 and 1999.

Catherine has defended in a wide range of criminal cases before the Crown Court.  She has over 20 years of experience in cases involving serious violence (including murder), the supply of drugs and theft. In addition Catherine has particular experience in defending those accused of sexual offences. Matters have included allegations of rape, historic offences and young complainants. Catherine has also acted as Junior Counsel in a notable Terrorism case of a female suspected of being a member of ISIS.

Frederick has defenced in cases before the Crown Court for 20 years. He has experience in a broad range of matters from violence, dishonesty, the supply of drugs and all sexual offences, including rape and marital rape matters.  He is a preferred advocate in sensitive cases and those involving defendants with mental health issues/learning difficulties.

David Ellis is an experienced Solicitor Director who specialises in Criminal Defence at the Magistrates Court and Police Station.  Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, Dave is another well-known name in Staffordshire who clients trust to represent them.  Dave is joined by his wife;

Emma Ellis Solicitor in managing our Magistrates Court and Prison Law teams.  Also well known in Staffordshire, Emma is an experienced and dedicated Magistrates Court Defence Solicitor who also specialises in Prison Law matters.

Rachel Bentley Solicitor has previously run-her own businesses in Devon and recently returned to the Midlands to assist with Magistrates Court cases, Police Station Representation and preparing cases for the Crown Court.  Rachel is well-respected and simply gets good results for our clients, drawing-upon her enviable experience and contacts.

Simon Clark is a Senior Asylum and Immigration Caseworker Supervisor Director accredited by the Law Society in this specialist area of Law.  Simon  joined the family business in 2013 to replace Chris’ long-standing Crown Court Clerk Leonie who was emigrating.  Simon also established the Immigration department within Eastgate Chambers and in 2018 opened a new office with a Legal Aid Contract for Asylum and Immigration clients in North Wales.  Appointments are also available with Simon at our Cannock or Stafford offices and he continues to contribute to our Crown Court Department assisting with more complex cases in particular those involving mental health issues, Trials, Proceeds of Crime and Billing.
